Do you have a glazed extension with an old polycarbonate roof that is looking a little worse for wear? Perhaps cracks have started to appear with age and energy efficiency has gone out the window. Then the perfect answer is a tiled conservatory roof from Poole Joinery – not only will this give you improved energy efficiency, but it will give you a living space that you and your family can enjoy all year round.

Will I need planning permission to replace my conservatory roof?

The simple answer to this question is no. Because of the changes that were made to planning regulations in 2010, it is only in very rare situations that planning permission is required to change a conservatory roof.

However, if you are changing the type of roof that you have on your conservatory, for example from a glass or polycarbonate roof to a tiled roof, this means changing the classification of a conservatory from a temporary to a permanent structure which is classed as a ‘change of use’. In this instance, planning permission and building regulations may be required so make sure to check with your local council and on the Planning Portal before beginning any work.
